These are the standards used to develop lessons and units that meet state Arts requirements while also incorporating important SEL and Social Justice standards for a purposeful integration into well-rounded dance lessons
1d. Demonstrating Knowledge of Resources
This Dance History unit was developed using the book Jazz Dance: A History of the Roots and Branches where students would perform close reads, watch videos, write responses, participate in class discussions, and create their own movement phrases.
1e. Designing Coherent Instruction
This year long curricular overview is an example of how a 3 year dance program in a K-12 public school would look from September to June which incorporates street styles, jazz, choreography, Pilates, and modern dance classes with a culminating showcase at the end of the year.
